The bring-your-own-device (BYOD ) trend is transforming the way employees do their jobs today. New levels of mobility are giving rise to greater employee productivity, collaboration and job satisfaction as users in many enterprises are getting their work done on the device of their choice. The cost-savings promise that comes with BYOD is also having an effect, as upper management is enticed to rubber-stamp corporate mobility strategies in efforts to cut up expenses.

According to a survey of more than 1,900 IT and security decision-makers conducted by IDG Enterprise in January 2012, 72 percent of the respondents said their organizations allow employees to use personal or consumer devices to perform work tasks.
